Trustee Talent Pool (TTP)

Interested in joining the team?

If you don’t feel ready to jump straight in as a Member Nominated Director (MND), that’s exactly what the TTP is there for. It was created specifically to support and develop those of you who are interested in joining the team but would like some real-life experience before taking the next step to become an MND.

You’ll get the chance to spend a minimum of 12 months with the team and experience:

  • A day’s training to learn about the schemes and what it means to be a trustee as well as meet some of our advisers;
  • Attend committee meetings and be encouraged to express your views and share ideas;
  • See, first-hand, the day-to-day activities of how we operate as a team; and
  • Join all training sessions held for the TD’s and attend some Board and strategy meetings.

All our meetings have generally taken place in London, however due to the pandemic we have been making use of technology and holding these meetings virtually. The success of these virtual meetings means that we have decided to have a mixture of virtual meetings as well as some meetings in person, giving us greater flexibility for the future.

As a TTP member, not only will you be bringing your valuable insight, perspective and opinions to our team - which we have already seen the advantage of this year - you’ll also be helping us with our succession planning for our next generation of MNDs. When there is a vacancy on the Trustee Board, you will already have received the training required and seen how we work together. If an MND resigns or is no longer eligible to continue, the Trustee Board would look to fill that vacancy from the TTP on a temporary basis until the next MND selection. In fact, this is exactly what happened in 2020 (see Ailsa Beaton’s story).

Time commitment

We expect the time commitment to be less than that of a MND — you should expect to dedicate around 15 days a year to the role. You’ll also receive a recognition payment to reflect the value you’ll bring to the team and your expenses and travel costs will also be reimbursed.
