The Trustee Team

We have an essential role in managing the GE pension schemes, working in collaboration with the sponsoring employer (GE).

Our main responsibilities are to make sure that the schemes are well governed, safe and secure to ensure we can pay members’ pensions when they are due, as well as keeping the pension schemes running as efficiently and effectively as possible. This includes working with our advisers, considering relevant factors, and disregarding the irrelevant ones, to reach sound and sensible decisions on how to best manage the schemes and their investments.

And of course, we continue to comply with the laws that surround how UK pension schemes are managed, and our own schemes’ rules.

Trustee Talent Pool (TTP)

Last year we expanded our team with the formation of the Trustee Talent Pool, or TTP. Three people joined our team as TTP members. They have been supporting the main Trustee Board by playing an active role within the various Committees and Working Parties.

The TTP members have strengthened our team, bringing new ways of thinking and different insights to our work. As well as their own personal training programmes they have taken part in the same training provided to the Trustee Board, gaining real experience and a better understanding of how the team works and the role of an MND along the way. This puts them in a great place if they want to put themselves forward as an MND in the future.

How the team works

We work together with our advisers to run the schemes, shaping their financial, actuarial, and legal frameworks. We also partner with our Administrator – one of our key specialist advisers – to ensure they have processes in place to calculate and pay the members’ benefits correctly and on time.
